Pyrite comes from the Greek word ‘pyr,’ meaning fire. It alludes to the sparks it produces when struck by iron; an ancient practice used to generate fire. Pyrite is also peculiarly known as ‘Fool’s Gold’ for its deceptive metallic luster which can often be mistaken for Gold. A stone of shielding protection, Pyrite is believed to ward off one’s physical, mental and etheric tribulations, aiding in the attainment of ultimate perfection and purity of the universe.
