In Norse mythology, the stone was believed to encompass guiding properties, reportedly being found aboard a shipwreck as a compass. It was thought to reveal the sun’s position when placed in front of one’s eye, assisting the Vikings in navigating the turbulent seas. Sunstone is also linked to notions of vitality, independence and originality as seen in Greek mythology through the Sun God, Helios who is believed to bestow good fortune, prosperity and longevity.
