Iolite obtains its name from the Greek ‘ios’ meaning violet; an honorable nod to its remarkable vivacity. Historically used as a Viking’s compass, it was believed that Iolite could determine the positioning of the sun on even the most overcast of days. A stone for the third eye chakra, Iolite is believed to strengthen one’s intuition and open-mindedness to encourage the welcoming of change. It is an excellent tool for spiritual alignment.
